Summary: On September 16, 2019, two 16-year-olds and one 15-year-old tried robbing three people, including one homeowner and two residents in their front yard. Teenagers tried robbing them but shortly after opened fire at them, residents open fired back at the Teenangers. Two teenangers were seriously injured and died at the hospital. The other teenager died in the crossfire. Resident who shot the teenagers back has not been charged with anything and will not be, because it was self-defense, which is a law in Georgia.
Reaction: I think that he should have shot the robbers to protect himself from getting killed. I think that he shouldn’t be charged it was his right to fire back when in serious danger. I think that robbers wouldn’t be that situation or the homeowner, if the robbers didn’t try something stupid and especially pull out a gun and shot the homeowner.
Connection: This connects to Women’s Self-Defense Movement they were fighting for their right to vote. While the other stories they were fighting for their life. The Women’s Self-Defense Movement has a long history and many people are involved. This movement has created rules that can relate to the Georgia robbery.

I believe the homeowner should have shot them because they were trespassing and they had masks on.
ReplyDeletei believe they should have the charge of murder because it could have been solved a different way. It can be said they were defending themselve but still didn't have to be so dangerous to the point they where going to die
ReplyDeleteI believe that the homeowner and the residents had the right to shoot the robbers because it was an act of self-defense. I don't think the homeowners should be charged with murder because they were victims trying to protect themselves. I believe that the robbers brought death upon themselves by committing a such a serious crime in the first place.

ReplyDeleteI do believe people have the right to defend themselves, I just wish that right wasn't used with such serious consequences. Would it have been possible for the homeowners to close their doors and call the police? We may never know. I suppose the homeowners should not be charged with murder, since it was technically self-defense. The robbers did bring about retaliation for their crime. It's a shame they lost their lives. It's unclear if the robbers had guns, but they may have. If so, then they ran the risk of equal retaliation from Georgians who had guns ready.
I think it is okay that the homeowners fired shots at the robbers. They should not be charged with murder because it was only self defense since the robbers opened fire first. I also think that the robbers caused their own deaths because if they hadn't opened fire first, then the homeowners wouldn't have shot back at them.

ReplyDeletePersonally, I think that in any state people shouldn't just have guns, even if it's for self-defense. I think that the residents should've taken a better action to protect themselves, instead of killing kids. The kids should've been charged and gone to juvie instead of death because no one deserves to be killed. Also, the homeowner should be fined for something instead of charged for killing the teens because it's not right to kill anyone.

ReplyDeletei believe that the homeowner had the right to shoot in the first place since it was open fire on both parts which shows self defense towards the owner. i do not believe he should be charged for murder if he had self defense from his part, i do think the teens caused their own deaths do to them opening fire and having a gun in the first place as well as robbing
ReplyDeleteThe homeowner had the right to shoot. It was an act of self defense. They were victims of shooting and robbery. It is even a la in Georgia that they could do so as an act of self defense.
